Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam is generally conducted in the month of April every year. VIT is the first educational institution in India to get international accreditations for its courses. ?Admission to various engineering programme is based on the score obtained in this test. Candidates who have completed their higher secondary examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible to apply for the exam. The entrance examination has maximum time limit of two and half hours. Candidates are advised to have thorough preparation so as to successfully clear the entrance exam.
Exam Pattern
The question paper comprises of 4 parts that is
- PART-I ? Physics
- PART-II ? Chemistry
- PART-III ? Mathematics
- PART-IV ? Biology
The questions will be in multiple choice objective type format. There will be 40 questions from each section and each question carries one mark. There will not be any negative mark for wrong answers. ?Candidates are required to attempt 3 out of 4 parts. Candidates seeking admission for engineering courses are required to attempt PART I, II & III. Candidates opting Bio- medical engineering courses are required to attempt PART I, II & IV. Candidates who studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics in their higher secondary studies can attempt Part I, II, III or Part I, II, IV according to their choice. Questions will generally be from topics covered in higher secondary syllabus. Medium of instruction will be in English only.
Syllabus
PART-I ? Physics paper will contain questions from electrostatics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic waves and Wave Optics, Atomic Physics, Nuclear Physics and communication Systems etc.
PART-II ? Chemistry paper will contain questions from Coordination chemistry, Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics, Electro Chemistry and Organic Chemistry etc.
PART-III ? Mathematics paper comprises of questions from matrices and Determinants, Vector algebra, Trigonometry, geometry and Differential calculus etc.
PART-IV ? Biology section contains questions from questions from higher secondary syllabus such as Cell Biology, Evolution, Microbiology, Applied Biology and Human welfare etc.
